To go on the flipside of my previous post, I thought I'd touch on something that is always fun. Swimsuits. Not just any old swimsuits, but something that has a vintage and retro flair to it. I especially love this swimsuit, photographed in 1953 by Milton Greene. Think swimming in Montauk. You're laying on the beach in a floral, gingham, or plaid checked swimsuit and soaking up the sunrays. Doesn't that sound like heaven? I don't know about you, but I'd rather be anywhere rather than here in Minnesota.
I know what I'll be spending my next paycheck on!

Well, well, well! Hello everyone! Long time, no blogging! I have literally had no motivation to want to come on BlogSpot and update with anything. The weather here in Minnesota has made me feel so down and not like myself during these past couple months. This past weekend it FINALLY hit 70 degrees, but guess where we are now on the first of May?! Yeah, not higher but all the way back down to a good ol' 39 degrees. What the heck?! It's supposed to be a mix of rain and snow for the rest of this week. I'm so over this place.
But on the plus side, it gave me some inspiration to pick out some of my favorite rainwear that would lift my spirits a little. There's something special about a rain shower, just forget that snowfall, and it makes everything fresh and want to grow again. I can handle the rain if I had these few items in my wardrobe. I'm in love with the Hunter Original Rain Boots! With a luck of fate I actually WON some by entering a contest on their Facebook page. They are amazing and so comfortable. I can't wait to wear them out and about, because I am sure there will be tons of opportunities.

This past weekend was one of the laziest I've ever had. I'm not complaining about this though, I had two on-calls for work and for both I was cut, which in turn made me feel completely lazy. The weather outside is not helping as it is, SNOWING IN APRIL and there is no chance of it ending! So what is more perfect than staying inside and lounging around the house in your favorite pair of pajamas?! My favorite pair of PJs include black sweats, a comfy t-shirt with extra room, and a pair of super soft socks. But after seeing several street style photos of women wearing pajamas as their outfit at Fashion Week, I'm rethinking what I should actually wear to bed.
Stylist Caroline Sieber was seen at the Paris Fashion Week out in public wearing this gorgeous blue pajama set that I'm sure was extremely luxurious! Now I though, "why can't I have something like that just to wear in bed?" So I set out looking on different websites for some great deals on PJ sets and was not disappointed. These are just some of my favorites, and I am going to be saving up for the J.Crew sets the most.

This past weekend was one of the laziest I've ever had. I'm not complaining about this though, I had two on-calls for work and for both I was cut, which in turn made me feel completely lazy. Trust me there is no nudity in this, but just want to foreworn anyone. I was reading through my daily magazines for this month, and found a great little snippet about what lingerie to pair with an outfit that would make you feel just as sexy as if someone could see them. So, I thought it would be fun to spice some things up and talk about something that every lady should wear. Seriously though, some days you just want to feel a little sexy or have a little fun with something you have to wear every day. I don't really go too far out there when it comes to intimates, the riskiest thing I've ever bought was some fancy underwear from Victoria's Secret. There are some REALLY gorgeous garments out there though and so I thought I'd share some of my favorites.

These embroidered silk tap pants and bra, were Chinese, and found in the early 1920s. They were in fact worn by Mrs. Herbert Sage Mesick (part of a lingerie set, with slip and nightgown). They're actually featured at the Met Museum. So chic.
Ugh, I'd wear this in a heartbeat.

I love finding a trend that was popular years ago and ends up popping up again in this decade. I was really surprised to see that the bermuda short was going to be one of these trends for Spring 2013. Now, I'm not one that is going to personally wear this trend because I do not have the right body type for them. If I did, I would prefer slimmer cut Bermudas so as not to add extra volume to my legs or waist. So for women who do, it can be really chic to wear these shorts with a pair of flats or heels. That's the great thing about them, you can wear them in a comfy way or even in a dressed up way and they still look great. These shorts can give you some great coverage too, for those legs that are not yet tanned, and will keep you cool when it starts to get sweltering out. So I decided to put together two looks that I would wear, if I had the right body type.
This would be a great daytime look. Thought it would be fun to add a pair of sandals to give it a more casual style. I love these Alice + Olivia cuffed Bermudas in a army green color.
I'm not one to wear really high heels because I'm already 5'8", so these ModCloth mid-heels are absolutely perfect for this dressy outfit. I thought to pair a blazer to give it a more sophisticated look!

So I thought I would do something a little different today. I've never actually shown a lot of people where I blog and where I get the most of my inspiration for my posts. It's something that I've wanted to do for awhile as I think it's fun to see where people use their creativity and imagination on what they talk about. Like I've said in few other posts, I'm still living at home with my parents but they've given me the top floor of the house. It's essentially cut off from everything that happens on the floor below, and so it's really helpful for when I'm trying to put posts together and to actually get inspired. I've had this desk for as long as I can remember, but it's essentially just a long table so I can keep a lot of stuff on it. Pardon if some of the images are a little blurry, had to use my iPhone.
I always try to keep my planner right by my computer so I can have a constant reminder of when I'm going to put a blog up, and for when things are due for school. I'm really obsessed with fashion illustrations, as you can see, so I gotta give credit to Inslee for the gorgeous monthly calendar and to Erisha Ann for my computer wallpaper. xoxo
Thought I would do a close up of these few things. I'm obviously obsessed with New York and I got this mug from a Starbucks there last summer. It's perfect for holding utensils, and once I actually get a coffee maker for my home, I will use it in the proper way. I also am particularly in love with the tiny three-leaf clover cup that I received from my late grandmother. It just holds a special place in my heart since I'm in love with all things Irish.
This bulletin board is right off my desk and plays an important role in hanging inspiration images from my favorite magazines, and my necklaces. These images also spill into the wall that is behind my desk, and is currently gorgeous with images of Keira Knightley! I also did a little D.I.Y. by taking the wrapping paper I received from Bettie Paige Clothing and upholstering it to the back of the board. Just to add something more eye catching.
Every girl needs a good read! So for April I'm looking forward to catching up on some new fashion trends and good gossip. I always love having these close by so if I ever get bored, I can just flip through the pages and get inspired. Then I also really love the document holder I got from Barnes and Noble for all my papers and various things.
I just have to mention my favorite photograph with my nephew. He is my absolute favorite and I treasure every moment with him. So happy for my sister and brother-in-law in how they've created their little family. Hope to have my own one day. But anyways, I guess you can also see I'm a little obsessed with flowers. I just got this free Kate Spade sample and it smells AMAZING! I highly recommend checking the link above to get yours. Then the purple/green flower holder is really special to me, as I was given it to me on my birthday a few years ago from a customer I met when I worked at Caribou Coffee. She just recently passed away but I will most likely always keep this and remember what an amazing and inspiring person she was.
Well, there it is! A little sneak peek into where I spend most of my time everyday. I try to keep it as organized as possible and make it into a comfortable and inspiring place. Though I really cannot wait until I can have something even bigger!
