Once upon a time, there was a blogger who lived in the Midwest who dreamed of living in her own fairytale outside of her home. This fairytale included a bustling city that never sleeps, being surrounded by fashion that makes her weep, and being happy while she leaps towards her future.

Now you may be asking, "why is she rhyming?" Well I have a great reason. Today's post is all about whimsical fashion that has storybook drama. What better way to be inspired then that of fairytale fashion? Fairytales can have two sides to them: light and carefree, to dark and dangerous. I personally like both, especially when it comes to how ornate outfits can be. So sit back and relax, and enjoy my fairytale of fashion!
The princess in this story is full of whimsy, and enjoys the softer side of things. She is beautiful in all that she is, and takes pride in the way she presents herself. Her wardrobe is full of designer pieces, and she is not afraid to spend too much on something she loves. Her tiara is ornate and filled with jewels that radiate opulence. Pink, is her favorite color, and she incorporates it in everything she wears. Whether it's a rose print dress, her Fairest of Them All platform pumps, or even her fairytale clutch, you can be sure she will leave you in awe.

The queen in this story is full of drama, and you might say she is "evil" in her doings. But to say this is to just boost her ego, because she knows what she wants and how to get it. You will not see this queen bow down to anyone, and she'll be wearing something fierce to prove it. She is grand in everything she does, and her wardrobe is no different. She likes to wear her crown, not just because it's proof of her royalty, but because it encompasses everything she is. Her favorite color is red, and that just so happens to be the color of her favorite food; the apple. This fruit is attached to her side with the appropriately named Evil Queen clutch. Her Valentino lace mini-dress pairs perfectly with her devilishly delicious black suede pumps. And one cannot forget ruby red lipstick to complete her ensemble. Be careful when approaching this queen, she might ensnare you with her wicked smile.

She may be just a fictional character, but Wednesday Addams, from the great show the Addams Family, has influenced a lot of people over the years. She's a deadpan prepubescent girl who is the perfect example of what a lot of us having gone through when we were that age. She's charming in a macabre way, and I grew up loving watching Christina Ricci play her. She emulated the character so greatly, and her doll-like features and pale skin made her perfect for the portrayal.

So what comes out of this popular portrayal? well, her style is the most recognizable. She had some great all black outfits that I often wanted to copy, and it gave a sense of American gothic that anyone could bring into their wardrobe. There is also an attitude to copying this style, and you of course have to have long hair. Think old-fashioned dresses with high necklines and a dark print. Pointed white collars and cuffs, make sure to wear black tights and black shoes or boots.

You can also really play into this look during October, which is why I am blogging about this. Her look really reminds of Autumn and Halloween, so have fun with trying this look out and let me know how you would incorporate this into your outfit!

Happy Monday, y'all!

Hope your weekend was great, and that you have a fabulous last full week of September! I really can't believe it's almost October, before you know it, it's going to be 2014! I am currently enjoying the beginning of my Fall break, and looking forward to starting to put together my portfolio for graduation. Pretty soon, I will be getting ready to move on from college on to bigger and better things! This is crazy to me, but I can't wait to take that step and tell the world that I am going places. I also can't wait until I am able to move to New York (or stay in Minneapolis) and get a job that will constantly inspire me. So, I figured a great way to I would start early on that inspiration is to talk about something every woman should have when they actually make that step into adulthood. Obviously for me, that step is graduating and landing my first 'real world' job. The job that is 9-5, and where accomplishments can happen to move your life forward.

An investment piece is that something every woman should have, and I am looking forward to investing in a great designer handbag. Successful men buy sports cars, but women tend to buy items that will make people turn their heads. A designer handbag would definitely be one of those items, and it would fit into my lifestyle the most. It's something I would constantly use. I am kind-of obsessed with purchasing all types of handbags that will last me a long time. So if the price and quality of the handbag is right, I would be willing to pay extra. You want to make sure that whatever piece you do decide to buy, it's something you really love and can see yourself using down the road. What is an investment piece would you incorporate into your wardrobe?

Hey guys, hope you're all doing well! I am slowly getting better from a bad chest cold, and I am hoping it's the only time I get sick this season. Autumn is here and is not going anywhere, hopefully for awhile. I love this time of year, it's just so beautiful outside even though things are slowly dying. A trend that I am enjoying for this season is one that can easily be transferred through each one. Think pearl and diamond-encrusted pieces that have a tough-girl attitude.

We don't have to be a mythical creature to appreciate the beauty of sea inspired fashion and beauty. This type of inspiration is tough, yet feminine. Alexander McQueen's collection for this season is perfect for inspiration when bringing this trend into your own wardrobe! Check out some other pieces I have found!!

1. Tory Burch Keegan Jacket | 2. Char Julep | 3. Cosmic Pearls Top | 4. Pearls Just Wanna Have Fun Necklace | 5. Warehouse Sea Gypsy Beaded Top | 6. Alexander McQueen Pearl Pumps | 7. Hi everyone! Happy late night Tuesday! Hope you're all doing well. I have been busy with school, what a surprise, and anxiously awaiting my Fall break before I head onto my last quarter. Just thought I would drop by and share with you a great opportunity that has come about with Mostly Lisa!
Warby Parker approached me to talk about their new Fall 2013 Collection! I feel so honored by this! It came as a legit surprise to me that a company would even think I was good enough to make a post about their product, but here we are! For those of you who don't know, Warby Parker is a FANTASTIC eyewear company that specializes in vintage-inspired frames and sunglasses. They have gorgeous eyewear for women and men, and you can even try them before you buy them. What's better than that?

Their new fall collection is a "reverent bow to some of our favorite literary favorites of the midcentury. There are fifteen new styles!" Then, with every collection, after you purchase a pair they give one away to someone in need through their non-profit partners. This is such a great company, and I really hope you guys can check them out. I have sporadically posted some of my favorites, and hope you enjoy them too! I love that there is an eyewear company that you don't have to be ashamed to be buying glasses at. I am definitely more confident when wearing a great pair of glasses, and I think Warby Parker plays on that really well.

The first time I saw Zooey Deschanel was in the movie 'Elf' with Will Ferrell, and I instantly fell in love with her acting skills and her voice. Little did I know that I would soon fall in love with her style over the years, as she has pretty much owned her own style and the red carpets she has attended. She is Glamour's September cover star and so I thought it would be appropriate to share my common interest in this talented woman!
I'm crushing hard right now on her style both on and off the screen, though Jess Day is pretty much perfect on New Girl as she wears tons of cute and quirky outfits. She maintains this style throughout most her outfits and it gives her a fun style that anyone can emulate. With vintage tea dresses, floral and polka dot patterns, peter pan collars, and cardigans that are just some of her 'staple' pieces. It's not unknown that ModCloth is a must for Zooey, and that just makes me love her even more. She even has her own 'What Would Zooey Wear?' website, which is insane!

This girl can bring it on the red carpet though, and really knows how to turn on the glamour and play homage to classic silhouettes and colors. She likes to pick statement colors and have it be the centerpiece to her accessories and jewelry. She is often seen in Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de la Renta, and Naeem Khan!

I think what I love the most about Zooey though is that through all of her talent, beauty, and style she still has a reputation of always being herself. I've never seen her not be genuine or uncomfortable about her individual personality and style. There is confidence and strength in the way she presents herself, and I think that is something to admire. (Images: Zooey Deschanel Web, Marie Claire)

Season 3 of  New Girl needs to be here faster!

Have a great weekend everyone!

It is so hard to believe that it is already September! It always seems that the last month of summer goes by quickly, and we're left with some amazing memories of laid back days and good times with friends. I hope your Labor Day was fun! I ended up sleeping in and enjoying sleeping in my own bed again. The end of my summer included the birth of my second nephew! He is absolute perfection, and I miss him so much already. His name is Riley Patrick and I was able to spend some bonding time with him before he went home. Hope to see him again soon, but I really can't wait to see him grow up during a great time of year!

This time of year brings about many inspirations for myself and for others, and I am just hoping the weather in Minnesota will be enjoyable. That is my major want for Autumn, and here some of my others! Enjoy!
