I'm so excited to present this to all of my readers. I finally got my first Influenster VoxBox for spring! When I signed up I did not expect that I would be chosen, but I will say I'm really happy to have been selected and to have the ability to share my reviews with everyone. So I guess I'll go in order from the little handout I received in the box, and then go from there! Enjoy!

Secret Outlast Clear Gel Antiperspirant/Deodorant: $4.59
I don't particularly like gel deodorant because of the stains that it tends to leave on my clothing. But this Secret Outlast Deodorant pleasantly surprised me by leaving no marks, and it smells insanely good. PLUS, you can leave it on for two days and it still leaves you smelling clean. It's hard to describe what the smell is, but just know it's not too overwhelming. #WhiteMarksFail

NYC New York Color Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm: $2.99
I'm always on the hunt for a good lip balm or chapstick that will keep my lips soft and hydrated. Getting this #applelicious lip balm from NYC was a perfect addition to my collection. It's not too bright of a red so that you can wear it casually, but you can also wear it out on the town. This works great since I have really fair skin. It smells really good also, and it kept my lips from being chapped for the entire week that I've been using it. I highly recommend getting this!

Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS Dust It: $23.50
I had mistakenly used this product without reading the instructions first and ended putting this powder on my cheeks. OOPS! Luckily, there was no reaction and I was able to wash it off with no problem at all. When I finally did use it in the right way, I was unhappy with my results. You are supposed to take a section of your hair and then sprinkle the powder and rub it into your scalp. This is should give you volume and add more texture. I received neither. I am guessing this is because my hair is already thick, so I'm assuming it would work best on thin or fine hair. Either way, I'm glad I tried it though! Not sure if I'm feeling the #OSiSLove right now.
Tastykake Kandy Bar Kakes: $4.49 per box
I may have to admit the minute I opened the box, I eat this right away. Who can resist chocolate and peanut butter? I personally have never heard of #Tastykake, I'm assuming they are brand new? The inside was soft and very scrumptious. I would love to try the s'mores one sometime.
I know I missing one item, the Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure: ($5.99 - $7.99), but that is because I don't often wear nail polish and get manicures. I would save this for a special occasion and have it in a different shade/pattern. I have heard nothing but good things about this product though. #imPressRevolution

Well, that is it for my first Influenster review! It was so much receiving this and being able to do this. I can't wait to try again! (Disclaimer: I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.)

Have any of you ever received an Influenster box? Did you have fun with it? Let me know in the comments! :D

I cannot with these gorgeous photographs by Luca Meneghel! How gorgeous and dream-like are these models?! This series is called 'Paper Doll' and is a mix of imagination and creativity with swept back locks and gentle/vintage hues.

Short post, but had to post it! Enjoy! :)

I've recently been CRAVING some LipSmackers. Remember collecting those? I had probably like 5 different packs during Middle School, and always thought I was so cool putting them on. My favorite was this flavor that tasted like blueberries and had a tint of glitter in it. So much fun. Now there are more 'grown up' ways to get a hint of candy flavor and color in your makeup. I also really love these bath bombs that you can put in your bathtub and they smell absolutely delicious. You also can't go wrong with a candy scented candle. I'm on the hunt for some!

Anyways, it's been so long since my last blog post! I've been busy with trying to catch up with all the papers, quizzes, and studying I have to do before this quarter ends. I've recently been accepted into the Her Campus Blog Network and I'm so thrilled! There are some amazing people in the community and I'm excited to be apart of it. Hopefully this will help with getting some more followers/readers, and then I can find some more to follow myself! I also can't believe it's almost June! On the 12th, I turn 24 and that just seems super odd to me. Why am I getting so old?!

How cool is this vintage sewing pattern piece?! I've kind-of been in love with this risque and modest fashion choice of wearing inner-as-outwear. I guess it relates back to my love of separate pieces in an outfit. Now I wouldn't necessarily go right out there and wear just a bra a public, but you can wear coverups and sheer tops and make it look really elegant. The style also relates, obviously, to bikinis sported by vintage Hollywood starlets. In the 1950s, this cool trend was paired with shorts and worn to different sports events. Quite an easy way to stay cool! These necessities aren't just unmentionables anymore!

Nowadays you can see this trend at music festivals, at the beach, and even on the runway!

What do you guys think of this trend?

Imagine being swept away the tide with this gorgeous trend for spring, the wave print. From Monique Lhuillier's Japanese wave-print fabrics and aqua eyeshadow, to Alberta Ferretti's mermaid gowns and just out-of-the-sea hair. Since blue is my favorite color, I had to cover this trend because it's just so perfect for spring and summer. Enjoy all the color!

Have a great weekend!

Ever since I saw the first image of Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan my inner literature heart  was pushed through into the forefront. I've only read "The Great Gatsby" once, in high school, but I always remember being deeply interested in the story and how beautifully Mr. Fitzgerald writes. So I knew that the movie would have two of my favorite things, grand 20s fashion and a tragic romance. Who could resist?! I've always told myself that in another life I lived in this era, mostly because I could see myself falling in love and having my heart broken in such a grandeur way.

I've found a few of my favorite pieces inspired by the novel and the new Baz Lurhmann production! From what I've seen in previews and have seen with the sketches from Prada, the fashion in this movie will not disappoint!

Have any of you seen the movie yet? If so, what did you think? Did it live up to expectations? I'm hoping to see it this Friday, so don't spoil me too much!

Sssssay hi to one of my favorite trends for this spring. The snake print. According to the Lunar calendar, 2013 is the year of the snake, which makes this all the more fun. Snakeskin is practically everywhere, at least it was on the runway. Donning on handbags, shoes, jewelry, and made its way onto some gorgeous dresses (as seen in Erdem and Proenza Schouler). The print can be bold and unconventional, but it makes the perfect choice to add that edge to your wardrobe! It may seem intimidating at first to try to wear, but it can be easy to pull off. I am going to start off easy and mix it into an accessory, and then possibly a maxi dress. What do you think of this trend? Would you dare to slither into this trend?

Have a great weekend!

Because I just really had to! It is my dream to attend this Gala one day, maybe in another life, and to have the ability to dress up in a ridiculously gorgeous gown. Seriously though, it seems like a fairytale being able to attend this. This year's theme was "PUNK: Chaos to Couture" that aligns with their new exhibition that comes out on the 9th. I wish I was in New York to go and see it, if any of you do let me know what it is like! I will say I was a little disappointed in a lot of the celebrities not playing on the theme. I saw a lot of elegant and basic dresses that did not go along with it, and I heard that the men were told to wear suits. WTF? But nonetheless, these are my favorites of the night and the ones that hit the nose.
Warning: There are a lot of photos.

Lily Collins in Moschino
Nina Dobrev in Monique Lhuillier

Jennifer Morrison in Donna Karan Atelier

Sienna Miller in Burberry Prorsum

I have been admiring Ruche's Bridal Lookbook: Forever And A Day for the past couple weeks. Everything in this lookbook is what you would expect a romantic wedding to be like. With vintage inspiration, gorgeous lighting, and floral headpieces, this collection is exactly what I would want my wedding to be.

Guess I can start pinning away to save ideas!

To go on the flipside of my previous post, I thought I'd touch on something that is always fun. Swimsuits. Not just any old swimsuits, but something that has a vintage and retro flair to it. I especially love this swimsuit, photographed in 1953 by Milton Greene. Think swimming in Montauk. You're laying on the beach in a floral, gingham, or plaid checked swimsuit and soaking up the sunrays. Doesn't that sound like heaven? I don't know about you, but I'd rather be anywhere rather than here in Minnesota.

I know what I'll be spending my next paycheck on!

Well, well, well! Hello everyone! Long time, no blogging! I have literally had no motivation to want to come on BlogSpot and update with anything. The weather here in Minnesota has made me feel so down and not like myself during these past couple months. This past weekend it FINALLY hit 70 degrees, but guess where we are now on the first of May?! Yeah, not higher but all the way back down to a good ol' 39 degrees. What the heck?! It's supposed to be a mix of rain and snow for the rest of this week. I'm so over this place.

But on the plus side, it gave me some inspiration to pick out some of my favorite rainwear that would lift my spirits a little. There's something special about a rain shower, just forget that snowfall, and it makes everything fresh and want to grow again. I can handle the rain if I had these few items in my wardrobe. I'm in love with the Hunter Original Rain Boots! With a luck of fate I actually WON some by entering a contest on their Facebook page. They are amazing and so comfortable. I can't wait to wear them out and about, because I am sure there will be tons of opportunities.

So tell me readers, what's the weather like where you are? If you have nice weather, I don't hate you but I am very happy for you! If you're in a place like where I am, LET'S GIVE EACHOTHER A HUG!

Always,
Mostly Lisa
