In honor of Halloween happening this Friday (!)....I decided to do something a little different for today's post. I'm a huge sucker for a good comedy, thriller, mystery or suspense film and this time of year for cinema is just the perfect mix of all of these. The storytelling in any of these movies has to be interesting and compelling for the viewer, and I think most of these hit on some type of emotion or trigger some type of response after watching them. Nostalgia is a big feeling I get with almost half of these, while others are just excitement after being scared. I like being shocked after a huge reveal, so Paranormal Activity & The Others are just the ticket.
If you're a 90s kid, like me, you'll obviously enjoy those Disney movies that aired on the big screen (Hocus Pocus, Casper) and the ones that showed on a Friday night (Under Wraps, Halloweentown) and were 'Original's' at the time. My all-time favorite movie to watch during this time of year is Ginger Snaps. It's just the perfect amount of teenage angst, shtick, gore, fitting into the Indie genre and NSFW-language. I don't even remember the first time I watched this movie, but I was instantly hooked. I guess you could say I was 'bitten'.... ;)

Hocus Pocus will forever be my favorite Halloween movie. I've been watching that movie since I was a little kid and it never gets old. Casper's another movie I watched frequently (I think I still have it on VHS!) I've never heard of Ginger Snaps but just added it to my watch list, so thanks for the recommendation!

Isn't it the perfect ode to our childhood though? It's such a perfect tradition every single year to watch this, and I kind-of want to pass it on to my children! I love that movie so much! And Casper?! I still have it on VHS too! I remember vividly making a journey to Sam Goody to pick the movie up once it came out, I had to have it. :)
