Even the smallest detail can make or break an outfit, right? The particular detail I'll be talking about today is something I've actually referenced in the past, but it's so good that I have to talk about it more than once - embroidery, embroidered faux leather, to be exact. While this wardrobe staple may be best for fall/winter, I personally think it can easily translate into whichever season you want. This is why I feel so lucky I happened upon this boohoo embroidered floral moto jacket on Poshmark, which is definitely on trend for spring/summer this year.
Feeling edgy in my attempt to take my spring style to the next level, this timeless item really amplified the rest of the outfit I put together. It was simply really, I took high-waisted black denim + a sheer navy green blouse from torrid to pair with tan booties from Target and ended up with a fun, easy look for the season. Since this trend is so accessible now for all sizes and price points, I also wanted to share a few other embroidered jackets I've had my eye on. See below for four different styles, same trend.

What does your reflection say about you? For me, it says that I have every right to be who I am and to love the person I have become. Do you know how long it has taken me to actually be able to say these words with confidence?! If you had asked me even a year ago if I liked who I was completely, inside and out, I would have laughed in your face and probably broken down ugly crying. While I am always on the verge of tears anytime someone compliments me on a part of myself, I can now actually accept the words that are given to me and not think they are lie. Progress people, progress! Most of my insecurities are still always looming in the back of my mind, however, I now know that I can work on improving what they are and not feel like a victim to them. My main insecurity is pretty obvious, weight issues, but I can now realize and understand that that is not the only part of me that is worthy of being accepted. I can fix that part when I chose to, and people care about me no matter what number is on the scale.Again, this is serious progress for me mentally and I am hoping that every part of my self and my reflection continues to improve while I get older.While I am currently seeing all of this, I'm also seeing another important aspect of myself that I never had before. I have damn good fashion sense + style for someone who shops on a budget. This may not seem that important, but hello, I have a fashion blog and a fashion degree! We may all know that I have several people I look to for style and that have a major influence on the fashion industry, i.e; Ashley Graham, Nicolette Mason, Alex Michael May, etc., I have taken their inspiration and made it into something that is completely me. The latest trend I have incorporated into being my fashionable self? Velvet, baby! It is a MUST-HAVE for fall and winter, and I am thrilled that it has lasted for the past year or so. I have been wearing this velvet kimono from Torrid on rotation for the past month or so, as it is so comfortable and sophisticated at the same time. It is the perfect cardigan to dress up or down, and I am for sure going to be wearing it even into winter.

Details are so important for any outfit - they can make it or break it, let's be honest. I've been pretty lucky to have a keen eye for finding a lot of items that have exactly what I'm looking for, and this outfit is definitely one of them. You may be thinking that an all black outfit can't necessarily be 'festive' during this time of year, but like I said, it's the details that will bring out everything you need to be in the holiday spirit. My favorite part of this casual outfit? It has to be the AVA + VIV Bell Sleeve Peasant Blouse from Target! I purchased this during the fall and I've worn it several times, especially during October, but it has transformed into one of my favorite blouses to wear on a special occasion. The bell sleeves are probably the best part of it, as they bring out extra bohemian vibes along with the lace accents on the sleeves and upper area of the blouse. It's easy to wear with pretty much anything, so that is why I put the Mossimo Loose Fitting Long Vest from Target over it. It just adds a nice sophisticated touch that you can dress up or down, which fits perfectly into my type of style. Finally, I put on a pair of my favorite Mid-Rise Pixie Ankle Pants from Old Navy, the cutest ankle velvet booties + a velvet choker to complete the look.
This entire look cost under $100 as well, so you can't go wrong with finding something that matches your style + budget. I'm definitely looking forward to wearing this at least a couple more times, in various forms, this month and the next. At least I know I'll be casual + festive!

Double, double, toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Double, double, toil and trouble;
Something wicked this way comes!
Happy Halloween, everyone! All Hallows Eve has creeped up on us fast and the spooky holiday is in full swing. In my house, we'll be ready to hand out candy to the trick or treaters, watch a few classic movies and be listening to some freaky tunes all night long. I cannot believe we're already at the end of October, but I'm going to maintain my festive spirit for the week ahead with a new My Style File post!
If any of you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me freaking out over the new flannel I purchased from Cakeworthy's Halloween 2016 collection. The fandom-inspired, fairy tale favorite company makes these really adorable flannels, shirts and pins for people of all ages. I found out about them last year after doing some research through some hashtags, and was instantly hooked. So much so that I ended up buying my first flannel from them, which I didn't end up getting until Christmas. It made for a unique holiday season, that's for sure. For Halloween they focus a lot on 'Hocus Pocus' and other Disney-related fandom. This year, I decided to go for their 'Harry Potter' flannel that features the words 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' on the back. I mean, how cute is that?! It instantly got me inspired to do a photo shoot featuring it with an extra creepy setting. Luckily the Twin Cities has quite a few PERFECT spots to set the mood! I ended up choosing Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis that actually has quite important meaning to my family and I. With the help of another local blogger, we found the perfect time to take some photos in this beautiful place. Definitely got me in the mood for all things Halloween, and I hope it does for you as well. Stay safe tonight!

Today's Fashion Friday is all about finding the best pair of denim for your body type. Since I am a curvy fashion blogger, I am always on the hunt to find the best pair that will be flattering for my figure. While I have my go-to places that consistently have plus sizes, i.e; Old Navy, H&M, Forever21, I like to look at other online destinations that are affordable and have good quality. This outfit today has denim from Old Navy, which are super comfortable and make me feel good while wearing them. Since denim can go with everything, I decided to pair it with something flirty and perfect for spring! This kimono from H&M is a recent purchase and I am absolutely in love with it! It's for sure going to be something I wear a lot this season.
Like I said before, I've wanted to look at other places that have plus size fashion and so I've rounded some of my favorite denim picks from them! Enjoy!
