Lately, it's been pretty difficult to bring new ideas to the table when creating posts. Either I'm creating a PDF with images I've found while browsing Polyvore, or I'm getting inspirational images from Pinterest in which credit is given to every photographer. But do I have ideas that are exclusive just from my mind, or do I constantly need to be getting outside sources to bring it out of me? It's hard to find the balance between what's coming from my creative mind, or what's coming from someone else. I hope that my readers do enjoy what I come up with, since I'm consistently trying to bring my own voice into the mixture.
To all of you who do read Mostly Lisa, thank you. Thank you for being a fan, this blog is my baby and will hopefully be around for a long time. While my writing voice may not always be the best, or the most interesting, I'm trying to make it fun for the people who take time to read what I have to say. I'm even trying to bring my own flair to the local blogging scene here in Minneapolis, but I haven't quite reached it yet. A lot of the fashion bloggers here post a lot of outfit posts, which creates more brand awareness for boutiques around the Twin Cities, but I don't fit in a lot of the clothing that those beautiful places create.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I need to find my niche... While my tagline says 'fashion & lifestyle blog', I want it to be essentially Lisa and everything I believe in and aspire to be. So I'm asking, what do you think I should do to bring Mostly Lisa to the forefront? Post more Fashion Friday outfits? Re-do my layout? Host giveaways? If you have any ideas, let me know! I'd so greatly appreciate it. I'm sure something will pop in my head as to what to do in this predicament, but it's always nice to get other (kind) opinions on what can be improved.
As for today's post, I actually was inspired by a color that is part of the fall collection at my place of work. It's called 'Botanical Berry' and is a lovely start to the upcoming season that you can easily incorporate into your wardrobe. I've done this myself and I'm excited to be wearing it when the colors to start to change in September. Oh, now I want Autumn to be at my doorstep already.
Always,
Mostly Lisa

Once I heard that Dazzling Blue was an official color for spring 2014, I had to focus a color post on it. This blue isn't just a normal blue, it's a rich color that can really be paired with anything. It's bold and a wonderful accent to a neutral color tone. It's warm and inviting and should be great to wear this season!

Ah, the Holiday Gift Guides are finished. Now it's time to take the ideas I rounded up and bring them to action, I just hope that I can get everything I need in order for this holiday season to be extra magical. That magic brings me to what I am talking about in today's post! The gold trend has been around forever, and I noticed it was very present for fall and is now transitioning into winter. I do enjoy a great gold trend, as it can be easy to coordinate with anything and really makes you stand out. Gold is also very synonymous with the Holidays, and so I am going to give you some great inspiration on decorating your house/outfit/makeup/etc. during this time! I have also rounded up a cute outfit that I would wear in an instant to a Holiday party or get together. If I ever got invited to one, of course. Happy Tuesday!

If you ask anyone who really and truly knows me, they'll say that I sometimes act like a hopeless romantic. I would have to agree with that statement, and I am not ashamed of it. I love a good romantic novel (Hello, I am a Janeite!) and tend to enjoy a great romance movie here or there. I also think that this time of year is a great time to be a romantic. I mean, you look outside and it's cloudy and dark and you can't help but feel and embrace the mood in the atmosphere. Like anything in life, this can also translate very well into fashion. Deep burgundy, red hues and luxurious fabrics are the perfect way to wear your heart on your sleeve! The perfect collection to draw inspiration from is definitely Marchesa Fall 2013. It's just so beautiful. Also, enjoy some great accessories you can incorporate to make you extra romantic.

I've recently been CRAVING some LipSmackers. Remember collecting those? I had probably like 5 different packs during Middle School, and always thought I was so cool putting them on. My favorite was this flavor that tasted like blueberries and had a tint of glitter in it. So much fun. Now there are more 'grown up' ways to get a hint of candy flavor and color in your makeup. I also really love these bath bombs that you can put in your bathtub and they smell absolutely delicious. You also can't go wrong with a candy scented candle. I'm on the hunt for some!
Anyways, it's been so long since my last blog post! I've been busy with trying to catch up with all the papers, quizzes, and studying I have to do before this quarter ends. I've recently been accepted into the Her Campus Blog Network and I'm so thrilled! There are some amazing people in the community and I'm excited to be apart of it. Hopefully this will help with getting some more followers/readers, and then I can find some more to follow myself! I also can't believe it's almost June! On the 12th, I turn 24 and that just seems super odd to me. Why am I getting so old?!

WARNING: Eyes may need to adjust to the brightness these colors produce!
Hope you heeded my warning and put some sunglasses on, because this Spring 2013 trend is a bright one. You may have noticed more and more of stores updating their visual displays, and having to squint because they're so bright. But don't be afraid, embrace it! Neon is one of those fads that I either really love or truly hate. It's never really gone away since the '80s, and I hear so many people refrencing that era as something they don't want to look back on for fashion inspiration. I think this trend is good in incriments, which is perfect since it pops up right when spring and summer rolls around. There are subtle ways you can incorporate neon into your wardrobe, and this is what I like to do whenever I wear it. It's really keeping the materials light for a feminine take and the key I often follow is to make easy pairings of the bright hues with neutral's. This not only makes you have a sophisticated look, but it can also be a lot of fun. Kate Spade did this really well in her Spring 2013 collection, pairing and mixing different prints to switch up the bright yellow with blue and orange flowers, and in the orange with white polka dots. It was probably one of my favorite collections for the season, as was Oscar de la Renta's. He even went so far as putting neon in the hairstyles. Blogger Pink Peonies does this trend PERFECTLY! I'm obsessed with the pairing of the scarf and the neon yellow blouse.
1. Lightweight Cardigan with Neon Trim | 2. Neon Green Table Lamp | 3. TopShop lace dress | 4. Basilo Chandelier Earrings | 5. Neon Coral Leather Bracelet | 6. Fringed Neon Necklace | 7. Marc by Marc Jacobs Neon Make-Up Bag | 8. Neon Floral Underwire Top | 9. Neon Romilly Ballerina Flats
