1. An obvious choice for number one this month is the continuation into my favorite season. This time of year is always so special to me - it's a refresh both mentally and physically. I often thrive and feel more inspired during September & October. The days start getting richer in color, leaves start falling all around you and there's a lovely crispness to the air. Just divine!

About three months ago I came across an Instagram ad for Jonathan Van Ness's hair brand - JVN Hair - and just so happened to click on it for more information. Honestly, I didn't really think about purchasing anything at that moment but I knew I was looking for something new to add to my haircare routine. I eventually clicked out of the ad and moved on from there. Cut to a week later and little did I know this influenced me so much that when I saw it was available as a sample to add to my Sephora order, it was added immediately.
After the samples of the Volumizing line were done - I literally squeezed the last of the product out - I realized this was visibly showing me improvement and I needed to take the next step and try it out in full-size. Slowly but surely I was able to see better volume, shine, and fewer dead ends after each wash. I wasn't necessarily looking to start a new routine, but this has become something I can easily take control of, as life around me has been absolutely chaotic lately. I started an Instagram highlight that you can view here if you want to take a look at how far I've come!

“Fragrance is everything: it is the relationship between you and your mind, you and other people, you and this world. It is the life that you lead in your head. It is the life that you lead in the ways your skin feels. It is everything.” ― C. JoyBell C.
Isn't scent amazing? It can pinpoint a memory just by one inhale, makes you feel emotions you may be unprepared for - good or bad - and can bring you places you can only dream of! Luckily, any reminiscing I have when certain fragrances enter the air is almost always brimming with positive memories. The more prevalent ones include watching my mom do her makeup before work every morning, unique Avon perfume bottles, and the absolutely decadent scent called 'Pleasures' by Estée Lauder were staples on her wardrobe.
My mom's vanity was a place I absolutely loved to stand in front of as a kid while admiring all her makeup, skincare, and other tiny trinkets she kept her jewelry in. Once I found the recognizable bottle from Estée Lauder though, my interest was always piqued. I would sneak a couple spritzes and sprays, making sure to remember her tips on hitting the inside of my wrists and the sides of my neck. These were the "places to smell the best." I took this with me into adulthood, and it still applies today.
'Pleasures' is an innately floral smell, so it makes sense that floral, citrusy, and muskier scents are some of my favorites every season. I cannot thank my mom enough for introducing floral scents so early on in my life, since they are my go-to's also as an adult. Feminine, flirty, and sexy - applying these type of scents are my favorite part of my beauty routine, just like my mom! So little to no surprise here, spring is also my second favorite time of year, and since we're now in this new season, I wanted to share some of my favorite scents that I've had in my routine for years.

Bright and delicate eau de parfum. The scent of peony mixes the flavor of sun-bathed pear and black currant with the softness of an elegant floral bouquet.
A delicious, floral scent envelops the room. This intoxicating perfume from Zara was introduced to me just a few weeks ago and has instantly become my daily scent. My partner made a comment stating that he loved coming home and having it smell like me - so this one is for sure staying!
Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Eau de Parfum
Carolina Herrera Good Girl Parfum
The sweet, breathtaking, and alluring qualities of Jasmine, bring Good Girl a bright of femininity. The Good Girl's mysterious side is expressed with richly fragrant Cocoa, an exciting Tonka while Almond and Coffee bring notes of bold vibrancy.
I absolutely adore the notes for this perfume! "She Is: Provocative & Unapologetic. Ocassion: Night" Inspired and made for women - this scent is so unique and pleasurable to wear. I know every time I put it on, a more confident version of myself comes out and I feel like I can conquer anything!
Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia Cologne
The sensuous freshness of just-ripe pears is wrapped in a bouquet of white freesias, and mellowed by amber, patchouli and woods. Luscious and golden.
This scent is highly associated with fall for me, but it's slowly become a year-round staple. It's so refreshing, and light and really brings out a more feminine, divine energy than I've ever experienced with any other perfume.

1. Our Very First Christmas Tree
There's nothing else quite like this option for me this year. It simply has to be at the top of the list. Our very first tree together. Memories are being made that I only dreamed about when I was younger and I can't believe they're actually mine. I'm so in love with all of it, so yeah, definitely number one. Here's to appreciating everything happening to me right now.
2. A Tradition Making Its Way Back
Tradition has made a significant impact on me this year and I'm thrilled to find a past one coming back to hopefully stay. The nostalgic factor is HEAVY on this one - for your consideration, the Dayton's Santa Bears have made a comeback after 15 years! My fellow Minnesotans and Midwesterners, this one is for you! Does anyone else remember these adorable stuffed animals that were sold in Dayton's department store in Downtown Minneapolis? So many memories here, my mom started collecting before my sister was born and they slowly became a part of both of our childhoods. This is such a happy memory.

3. Korean-Inspired Macarons Here At Home
The final thing I'm looking forward to loving this Christmas comes from a Minnesota-owned bakery called K-Town Macarons! How excited was I when I came across this small-owned patisserie while attending The Northern Express last year?! I am always looking for unique, fresh, and local versions of these tasty treats that could live up to my favorite version from Ladurée Macarons. While it's been a challenge, I'd say these French + Korean-inspired macarons are some of the most scrumptious sweets I've come across so far! My absolute favorite reason to love these macarons is simply knowing that they're homemade here in Minnesota and crafted with love by the very sweet owner - Jolynn Wilkinson. We love a woman-owned local business over here! *snap, snap*
While I'm so ecstatic I get to try these again this year, I'm even more thrilled to share that one of my lovely readers will be able to as well! That's right - Jolynn has so graciously offered to give away one of her SOLD-OUT large Christmas Variety Packs to one lucky participant. Please read below for instructions on how to enter. Good luck! 🎄

I adore traditions - they've been a big part of my life since I can remember, most being ones that my parents perfectly handed down to my sister and I. -sigh- Just thinking of my favorites; like setting up a weekend to bake Christmas cookies with my mom and sister, having dad's homemade pizza for Christmas Eve dinner, and my particular favorite - always knowing I would be getting one pair of holiday-appropriate socks from mom as the last gift to open on Christmas morning. What a way to make a girl feel special!
Now it's time to add one more tradition to my list..
A Few of My Favorite Christmas Markets to Visit This Holiday Season
As much as I love traditions, these unique Christmas events around the Twin Cities are starting to get much higher in ranking! While these types of events are not new to anyone who lives in Minnesota, or even in the Midwest, I've noticed there has definitely been a bigger interest in them over the past couple of years. I'm not actually surprised about that, to be honest. With that being said, here is a small list of a few of them - ones I've even attended, so you can trust my opinion - and keep reading for a very special SURPRISE!
'Stroll through the Arboretum gardens decked out in Winter Lights. Enjoy fresh air as you explore outdoor light displays, highlighting flowers, trees and the beauty of nature, on a .75-mile walking route. See the new 16-foot weepinIg willow tree and walk through the giant apple, which pays tribute to our Horticultural Research Center’s apple research.'
If the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum during the holidays is anything like their Autumn displays, I can tell you now that it will be spectacular! This year they are doing various themes including; Family Nights, Date Nights, and even a Photography Night. A unique fact about this being it's all outside! Truly looking forward to this! Weekends vary during December.
'The European Christmas Market in St. Paul is the most authentic traditional holiday market of its kind in Minnesota, offering a unique shopping experience, family-friendly entertainment & intercultural activities.'
Fröhliche Weihnachten!! I had the chance to attend this traditional holiday market for the first time last year and I'm so thrilled that it is back for another one. Want a true view of how I'm not the only one in Minnesota who loves tradition, make sure to head to the Union Depot! Last weekend in November – 25-27, and the first 3 weekends in December – 2-4, 9-11 & 16-18.
3. Yuletide Cinema at The Parkway
'Bring the family to The Parkway for Yuletide Cinema matinees! There’s something for everyone!'
What's Christmas without the classic + essential holiday movies that you've either grown up with or have the slightest knowledge of. This event caught my eye just for one movie showing though - The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) // Sunday, December 11, 2022. So please, roll the tape!
'A MUST SEE CHRISTMAS LIGHT TOUR of 8 million lights & displays, vendor market, concessions, Santa, live reindeer, restaurant (Wed-Sun), smores cabins and more.'
Technically not in the Twin Cities, but it's just a quick 1-hour jaunt to Somerset, WI! You'll be glad you did as you'll come across one of the coolest light-show attractions in the Midwest! The sparkle and glow of so many lights can be overwhelming, but they've made sure to make it inviting and special for anyone who attends. I never took as many great night photos as I did while attending this, glow, baby, glow! November 25-January 1. Closed Dec 24–Open Dec 25.
'The Northern Express is a winter festival for all, dreamt up by local moms and small business owners, that embraces the spirit of the holidays. Inspired by the blissful magic we grew up believing, this immersive holiday experience will surely bring cheer to the whole family.'
After just starting last year, this amazing event has already become my must-have Christmas Market to attend in the Twin Cities!! I was so impressed with how quickly the people behind this were able to pull everything together, along with the help of the community, - they created something super magical. I cannot wait to attend it again this year and with so much anticipation to see what is going to be new this time around. I'm thrilled to add such a perfect addition to my list of traditions, and speaking of... I think I have another giveaway to do this year with T.N.E., so hope you keep reading!

Hi there! Welcome to my last gift guide for the 2021 holiday season! I'm so excited you're here, especially since this is an extra special guide for my fellow Minnesotans. In previous years of my #mostlylisagiftguide series I've always hosted a unique giveaway on the last day, so I'm really happy that this year is no different! While this year is smaller than previous giveaways, it's still amazing as the winner will be able to create a lot of memories with what they win.
As I've said, I'm approaching this series now as something to do for fun and have no expectations on the reach this will have. If it reaches a small group of people, that's amazing! If it doesn't, that's still okay and I know that I'll have some loyal followers still participate. It's truly for those "you betcha's" of the Midwest. Keep reading for more information and I hope you enjoy this more budget-friendly guide, as all items are under $50!

Frosted Juniper Candle ($20-$30) | Ski Girl Boxed Set of 8 Cards ($20) | In the Spaces: Poems and Illustrations by Anna Lisabeth ($18) | Black Lives Matter 3" Button ($6) | Small Fall Variety Pack ($13) | STAY ON TRACK DESKTOP NOTEPAD ($28) | Adele - 30 2XLP ($37) | Snowman Projector ($20) | Ceramic Lit Tree Decorative Figurine Pink ($30) | Roses and Hearts Set of Two Glass Tumblers ($28) | UNICORN Nail Polish ($12) | Do One Thing Every Day That Makes You Happy: A Journal ($9) | Mask Duo ($32) | GARDEN PARTY ($6) | The Lord of the Rings Tengwar Script Cuff Beanie ($13) | Foiled Zodiac Constellations Yearly Calendar ($33) | Tickets to The Northern Express ($15-$20)
Since memorable gifts can still be affordable, these are some of my favorite finds that won't hurt your budget and are bound to still impress. Perhaps you have a Secret Santa exchange, (a retro pink Christmas tree would be so much fun), a skincare enthusiast, (a mask duo that will put your skin into a great mood), or for my Minnesotans who want to shop local and enjoy a new holiday experience (which leads into my giveaway)!
I've ✨proudly✨ partnered with a new immersive holiday experience that is coming to the Twin Cities - The Northern Express! Since this season is all about wonder, excitement, and the holiday spirit, I figured what better way than to give back.
So, what is The Northern Express?

I have realized lately that I have a lot of people in my life who love to cook and know how to cook, so I thought for this next installment that I would focus on them. The cooks and foodies that you know and love, who go out of their way to make food taste excellent! The ones who make you feel spoiled every time you get to eat something they made. Gifting these talented people can be fun and challenging at the same time! There are so many options to choose from, you really have to look into who has the best knives or dishware since you'd be investing in them.
So if you've been looking for ideas in your own kitchen as well, please enjoy this gift guide, and let's get cookin'! 👩🏻🍳🍞🍳🥘

Baby Baggu | George & Viv Milk Bottle | Dagny Pie Dish | Finex Skillet | VÉNUS MON AMOUR - BOX OF 18 MACARONS | dark chocolate candy cane 51% | white raspberry popping candy 28% | Wüsthof Gourmet 3-Piece Starter Knife Set | Icon Lidded Soup Crock | Susannah Garrod 'Tis The Season Dessert Plate | mDesignt Metal Storage Box Bin with Hinged Lid | Thomas Kinkade A Christmas Wish Popcorn Tin | The Copper Hen Cookbook | Holiday Jewel™ 3-piece Serving Set
I wanted to showcase a unique selection of items that could be for anyone who wants to be a Masterchef in their own way! Since these items will also be investment pieces, I knew that budget didn't have to be too much of a problem. Whether it's high-quality chocolate with unique flavors, a cookbook straight from the kitchen of a Twin Cities restaurant, or festive plates for the upcoming holiday season - they will surely be a hit if you want to be a sous chef!

Gifting the he/hims and they/thems in your life can be pretty tricky - especially since you usually don't get a solid response on what they actually want. Finally being in a relationship though has opened my eyes to the subtle ways they can tell you what they like, without having to tell them to do anything! What do they like to do ALL the time? What interests them when they're searching the internet or when you're going shopping at Target with them? What a relief it is to have clear communication with a guy for the first time!
I do know that I tend to reference the same items every time I've done this guide in the past, but it's what works and it tends to always please! So please enjoy and let's get into my next guide - for the lads!

Plant Energy Shirt | Breville Bambino Espresso Machine | Market Smiley Patch Beanie | Mushroom Pour-Over Coffee Set| PUPPERS PLAID KOOZIE | Inverted Lighter | Best Buds Votive Candle Set | Konor Waterproof Chukka Boot | Harry Potter Collection - Hogwarts Express 3D Puzzle | BORDEAUX CORKSCREW | Flannel Pajama Set | Fenmore Midsize Multifunction Brown Leather Watch | Pinecone Cut Decanter, Green | Custom Vinyl Record Print | PIZZA SOCKS BOX
A new merch drop from my favorite streamer (Julen), pizza socks that I even want, and so many other tech/gadgets that will make his holiday super special! These will be perfect for stocking stuffers and for big spaces under the tree.

It's been so long, wow! When I first started the Mostly Lisa Holiday Gift Guide series, it was one of the best ideas I had come up with for this blog. It drove me to use my creativity, it urged me to regularly post because I was so proud of what I had made. Now? Now it's mostly inner feelings of everything I've made doesn't even matter in the long run, that it wouldn't get the attention I thought it deserved no matter how hard I've tried. It takes a lot of work, I'm talking hours and days for me to create all of this on my own. I know, I know, I decided to do this for my blog and that is a task I put upon myself, but still. Endless hours of searching and editing to make something that was a lot of fun in the beginning but has now turned into an ego game. That's not what I'm about, so I had to stop and I'm really glad I did.
The time passed has helped and it's brought a new perspective for me to look at. I'm going to approach this series not so seriously and just do it for fun again. If it gains nothing, if no one sees it - I'll be okay with that because I know that I put my heart into it. Maybe I'll be able to work with some small, local brands and have the ability to give something away because that's what the holidays are all about. So I've decided to try again, and here I am. ❤✨🎄

Let's start with the ladies!

Christmas Time In The City Dessert Plate | Capri Blue Ombre Faceted Glass Jar Candle | Eco dreamiest long-sleeve pajama set in constellation print | Celestial-embroidered velvet Mary Jane flats | Holiday Jigsaw Puzzle | Original Pink Hoodie | Satin Heatless Curling Set - Sunset Tie Dye | GALAXY NECKLACE | Hatch Restore Personalized Sleep Solution | New York Eau de Parfum Spray | Kraken Kitty Edition Black Chroma Wired Gaming Headset | The Muppet Christmas Carol - Vinyl Soundtrack | Maroon Patch Beanie | Spirited Away Lipstick | Hot Cocoa Kit | Obstinate Headstrong Girl Mug | Northwoods Candle | Grecian Bust Table Lamp

I am ALWAYS down to watch a movie that is based in Autumn, or that has Autumn in it, so I wanted to create a list of movies that are some of my absolute favorites! I love the bright, colorful moments that happen in movies with this season. They're so much fun to watch and sit back on a moody, rainy night in October with someone special. So please, feel free to read through and let me know what you're watching this time of year!

Stepmom (1998)
A terminally-ill woman must deal with her ex-husband's new lover, who will be their children's stepmother.

Pride & Prejudice (2005)
Sparks fly when spirited Elizabeth Bennet meets single, rich, and proud Mr. Darcy. But Mr. Darcy reluctantly finds himself falling in love with a woman beneath his class. Can each overcome their own pride and prejudice?

Little Women (2019)
Jo March reflects back and forth on her life, telling the beloved story of the March sisters - four young women, each determined to live life on her own terms.

You've Got Mail (1998)
Book superstore magnate, Joe Fox and independent book shop owner, Kathleen Kelly fall in love in the anonymity of the Internet both blissfully unaware that he's trying to put her out of business.

A curious youngster moves to Salem, where he struggles to fit in before awakening a trio of diabolical witches that were executed in the 17th century.

When a young girl living with her good-witch grandmother learns she too is a witch, she must help her grandmother save Halloweentown from evil forces.

A group of young misfits called The Goonies discover an ancient map and set out on an adventure to find a legendary pirate's long-lost treasure.

Dead Poet's Society (1989)
Maverick teacher John Keating uses poetry to embolden his boarding school students to new heights of self-expression.
