OUTFITTop: H&M+ (similar here) | Tank: Old Navy | Scarf: Gap | Jeans: Old Navy | Purse: Jason Wu for Target | Shoes: Gap

In my second installment of Fashion Friday, I am bringing out one of my favorite scarves to add a touch of color to my outfit. Again, I hope you can bear with me on the entryway pictures for right now.. It's still freezing outside and I don't have someone to take my pictures for me.  Like I said in my last FF, I like adding color in small ways to any outfit I wear. So this perfect scarf from GAP is just enough color to boost whatever you're wearing. The plus side of getting this scarf is that it was literally $2! I do love a great sale. I also like neon that isn't too overpowering, and finding the right color to match your skintone is a must. This green is a great touch for my fare skin and I like putting it over a neutral color like this black top from H&M+. You just want to make sure that your other accessories aren't as bold, so I paired it with this handbag that I got when Jason Wu collaborated with Target. White and black, you can't go wrong. Then I also added a great Rockstar denim from Old Navy that you can literally wear with anything. Hope you enjoy!

Have a great weekend everyone!

I have to admit I am a little late to the party with finding out about this gorgeous street style queen, Miroslava Duma. But after seeing so many different snaps of her at various Fashion Week's I have now become hooked. She has an impeccable Russian style that is akin to another favorite of mine, Ulyana Sergeenko.

Mira is the daughter of a senator and a former editor at Harper's Bazaar Russia, this influenced her so much that she is now a freelance editor for several different publications. She's after my own heart with her gorgeous website she runs, Buro 24/7.

"My working day can't be limited to 12 hours. I'm in touch with our editors 24 hours a day because when it's bedtime in Moscow, where I live, it's afternoon in New York."

It was really hard to pick just a few of my favorite looks of hers, so go and check out my Fashion board on Pinterest for some more! Make sure to follow me on there also for more inspiration.

How could I not talk about this gorgeous collection by Elie Saab? It'd be almost stupid of me not to at least touch on how absolutely beautiful this entire couture collection is. These dresses are so insanely perfect that I could almost cry! The 'blue' section is probably one of the most stunning sections that I have seen walk down the runway. I don't know how he does it, but Elie is able to make all the right hues fit so perfectly together. The silhouette is, as always, remarkably feminine, and hones in on the waist with its empire lines and flowing drapery. I just can't.. If I ever become somewhat financially stable in my future, it is my ABSOLUTE dream to at least rent a dress by this impeccable designer. It gets a super smile from me.

Happy Friday lovelies!

For this Monday, I thought I would touch on a great trend that I saw a lot of for spring 2014. Yes, I am already talking about spring and I couldn't be happier about it. Fringe is a modern and cool look that you can incorporate into your wardrobe fairly easily. It's not just western-inspired anymore and you can rock it in your accessories. I definitely want to do that this spring, so I am on the lookout for a great tote or handbag that has a fringe flair to it. On the runway, Valentino knocked it out of the park with their handbags. Badgley Mischka embellished their dresses and created a beautiful silhouette. Marchesa gave us drama fringe in luxurious black and floral trims. I am excited to see if it pops up in the haute couture collections at all. Cross your fingers!
I, of course, rounded up some great items that are budget friendly and are sure to make you look extra fringe worthy this upcoming season!

It's finally Friday, so I have been inspired to start a new weekly series here on Mostly Lisa. Fashion Friday is going to be all about a favorite outfit of mine for the week. Since I don't often like to photograph myself, there will be a bare minimum of 5 photos for each post. Don't worry, you won't have to see too much of my face, haha. I also don't want to do too much since I have no one to take my pictures, this is all self-timer photos people! You will also get a great look into the entrance of my house since it is freezing right now in Minnesota. But I thought it'd be fun to finally share some of my style with everyone. I am mostly inspired by runway looks, street style and fellow bloggers but like to translate it into something I can make my own. I'm all about comfortability and something that is aesthetically pleasing. Being plus size, it's gotten a lot better over the years to find things that combine these two. I am also not able to really branch out right now because of financial reasons, but I try do my best.
The theme for my first Fashion Friday is "White + Black + Blue"! I personally like wearing a classic color combo like black and white, and adding a touch of color in my accessories. This Marc by Marc Jacobs bag that I got back in 2009 in Paris, France is the perfect bold color choice that I can get behind. As I have already talked about this great combo before on Mostly Lisa, it was only necessary for me to get this great top from Target. It's super comfortable, looks great by itself or with a blazer. Plus, you can pair any type of jewelry or scarf with it! One of my biggest obsessions right now are knee-high boots, so when I found these in September I snatched them up as quickly as I could! This is a great outfit that you can wear to work or out with friends!
So I hope you can bear with me while my photos will hopefully get better over time and I can give you better outfits! Let me know if you like this idea and want to see more! I'd greatly appreciate to hear anything from you guys in the comments. Have a fabulous weekend!
Always,
Mostly Lisa

SHINE ON

Fall Color Style Palette | Poppy Citrine Blossom | West End Wonderland Polish | White Jasmine & Mind Body Lotion | Rouge Coco Shine | Raspberry Glazed Lip Shine | Tory Burch Body Lotion | YSL Golden Gloss Set | Miss Dior Eau de Toilette | Compact Shine On | Essie Luxeffects Topcoat | YSL Pure Chromatics

One of my smaller 'resolutions' for this new year was to embrace wearing natural-like makeup that would reflect my skin and tone better. I don't normally wear a lot of makeup, but that has mostly been because I have not wanted to put in the effort or have been able to afford quality products. With samples that I've received through family and friends, I've actually been testing different eye shadows, mascaras, and glosses for my lips. The items that have been given to me are ones that highlight and accentuate my eye color and my lip tone, which have been super helpful and fun to try. These products also 'shine' when they are used, haha. I believe that a hint of shine on your face can be a great effect and doesn't have to be unflattering. With these beauty items you can control how much shine you want and make yourself look flawless. Shine also doesn't have to be just in makeup, it can be in your perfume or even your nail polish! So, I hope you enjoy some of my recommendations and incorporate it into your beauty routine this year.

Hello ladies! Happy Sunday. It's a freezing, yet sunny day here in the Midwest. I am luckily able to stay inside the entire day and not have to worry about getting frostbite! Hope everyone is staying safe and staying warm. I am also staying toasty by dreaming about a brand that I talked about just last month! To refresh your memory, Darling Clothes is a U.K. based clothing brand that started back in 2008 with a vision of representing the quintessential 'English' woman. The clothes are feminine, sweet and super vintage. I had a chance to work with their Spring 2012 line when I interned at Red Light PR. The clothing is luxurious, but affordable. So I wanted to put together three outfits that anyone could wear, but that would be specific for a certain night out or occasion! Hope you enjoy what I picked, and let me know what you think in the comments!

This cute outfit will be great to go shopping with a friend, grabbing a drink, or just going dancing!

This romantic inspired outfit will make anyone's jaw drop when they see you in it.

Shine bright like a diamond in this glitzy and glamorous ensemble that you can wear out on the town.

Ten Beautiful Things For January

Happy New Year! It's time for new inspiration, new chances and so much more. I hope all of your celebrations were tons of fun and that you were able to spend time with loved ones. I was going to stay home with my parents, but I ended up going out to a bar with a couple friends. It was an absolute blast! Let's just say it is going down as a great start to this new year! I also hope that you enjoy my new look/theme! I thought what a perfect time to change it up! Hope you can peruse and check out my updated About section and Contact section. Credit goes to the incredibly talented, Fox & Arrow Design.

I figured for my first post of this year, I would share some of my favorite things that I look forward to admire for this month. I especially love the print from The Every Girl, it's just so inspiring and definitely something I need to hang on my wall. If you're like me, you love handwritten notes, and so these Rifle Paper Co. monogram cards are the perfect way to say hi or thank you to friends far away. Yes, please!

Hope you all enjoy the first weekend of the year!

Always,
Mostly Lisa
